Soapstone Carving – Dancing Bear

For thousands of years, the polar bear has been a key figure in the material, spiritual, and cultural life of circumpolar peoples, and polar bears remain important in their cultures.

Why it is interesting:  Polar Bears live only within the Arctic Circle and unlike other bears have a white coat.  They are considered spiritually powerful and similar to people.  Maybe that is why they are shown dancing.
